According to Dewan Bahasa Pustaka (DBP), the word Sejahtera means safe and prosperous. It is true that the word Sejahtera is commonly used in Malaysia, but poorly understood. As I've heard the word Sejahtera since I was a child, but I've never tried to understand the word itself. After I watched a TEDx talk by Prof Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak about Sejahtera: The Context of Balancing, now I know what is Sejahtera.

From the talk, I learned that Sejahtera is a concept of balance and holistic living in an environment that we loved. As Prof Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said, the balance is about many things and it summarized as SPICES.

Spiritually balanced

Physically balanced

Intellectually balanced

Culture

Ecology

Society

As I realized, my mother has been using the concept of Sejahtera in our house since I was a child. Sejahtera emphasizes balanced living, so to relate the concept in my experience, my mother always asked me to do more study (homework, schoolwork, and reading books) as much as I watched cartoons. As I grew up, I need to exercise (running, jogging, or walking) as much as my video game (PUBG or Call of Duty) character done.

Since 2018, I've been making a schedule to make sure I always do my study and assignments and also watch cartoons/tv programs. Praise to Allah SWT, I've managed to have an excellent CGPA for my diploma, and also I can continue watching my long ongoing list tv shows.

Also, I love buying things online. When I bought something online, I have a habit where the packaging will be removed carefully. This is because I could reuse the packaging in the future. Maybe I will need to send parcel to someone and I do not have to buy new packaging since I will use the old one. I always have this one bag/box contains plastics packaging which folded and nicely arranged. When I stayed at Mahallah few months ago, I am quite shocked because I always saw packaging plastics and boxes thrown away into the garbage can. Aren't they suppose to separate reusable and recyclable items and not simply throw it away?

I believe these situations I have mentioned are part of the Sejahtera concept. I wanted to learn and understanding more about the Sejahtera concept so that I could deliver the messages to other people too especially to those who are not able to get better education.

Thank you for reading. Have a nice day!
